Pus-t, fighting and killing his inner demons. 46 and 2 evolving from his insecure past stepping out from under his haunting shadow. Jimmy is reconnecting with his 11 year old self he split from mentally when he left his sick mother. He kills his younger self that is terrified to repeat what was done to him as he welcomes his son. Almost as though certain moments in his life caused him to create and sometimes kill certain versions of himself in order to either cope or move on. MaynqI always felt that almost the entire album was speaking mostly from or to himself in other periods of his life. After the Undertow album I assumed they had a fallout Keith Hickey from Phoenix AzI always thought this song was about Henry Rollins. We’ll (my rational and irrational self) miss him. Subjective interpretation the first time I heard was me saying goodbye to who I thought my boyfriend was as I came to understand who is actually is. Could be interpersonal or intrapersonal, but it’s a pending departure farewell. Idiotsavant from StcThis is a relationship dissolution metaphor. Is this the correct meaning of the song? I try not to look at it as correct or incorrect. All humans have the capacity to be misled, and to mislead for the purpose of acquiring power over others. It reminds me to not be a follower, and never try to be a leader who is secretly working for power and ego. No matter how many cults and false prophets get exposed, there will still be a new one that pops up that convince people to drink the Kool-Aid. You have the power to evolve without a cult leader. You have the power within you to explore yourself, the world, spirituality, magick, and so on. Think for yourself and question authority. Deaf and blind and dum and born to follow. I think of leaders of cults, preachers, gurus, or anyone who have delusions of grandeur that THEY AND THEY ALONE are the embodiment of God and everyone should hitch the wagon to their star. Now reflecting on the words, Im reminded of Opiate and the idea of religion being that for the masses. When the album first came out, I assumed that song was about Jesus. Its interesting to talk about, because you can actually gain perspective by hearing other peoples interpretations. It inspires conversations, ideas, and growth. What does it mean to you? What did it mean to you when you first hear it, how has the the meaning changed? What does it mean for you now? That’s what good poetry and art should do.
